Ailes Marines selected Saipem for the transport and installation of the “jacket” type foundations of the substation of the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm
Saint-Brieuc / Paris – July 22, 2020 – Ailes Marines , a company of the Iberdrola group in charge of the development, construction, installation and operation of the offshore wind farm in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc, has selected Saipem to transport and install the “jacket” type foundations and the upper part of the offshore substation.
The installation work will be carried out using the Saipem 7000, a heavy lifting vessel, while the management project and engineering activities will be carried out by Saipem SA, its French branch operating throughout the territory.

The Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm
The Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm will be built in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc in Brittany, 16.3 kilometers off the French coast. Once completed, the wind farm with a capacity of 496 MW will produce 1,820 GWh per year, the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 835,000 inhabitants. The installation work on the electrical substation will take several months in 2022. The wind farm will be fully operational in 2023.
