Press release
Immobilisation of the vessel AEOLUS for tooling verification
Lézardrieux / Saint-Brieuc / Paris - 15 June 2021 -
The jack up vessel AEOLUS in charge of drilling and installing the piles for the foundations of the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm has currently halted operations on site.
This decision was taken following a technical problem encountered during the second cycle of drilling. This technical problem resulted in the leakage of Panolin HLP SYNTH hydraulic fluid used in the drill rig guidance systems.
This fluid, specifically designed and developed for work at sea, is biodegradable according to the international OECD 301B international criteria. It is considered in the industry as one of the most environmentally friendly. It is widely used for underwater applications, for work at sea, due to its low impact on the environment.
Ailes Marines takes all environmental issues very seriously. In accordance with its procedures, work was immediately halted pending technical inspection of the drilling rig by the authorities. Once this inspection is completed, the AEOLUS will return to its home port to carry out a full technical check of the vessel and equipment.
Ailes Marines collaborates with the maritime authorities in the management of operations.
