Construction work resumes on the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm

Ailes Marines announces today the resumption of construction work on the wind farm in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc. The Van Oord vessel Aeolus, which is responsible for installing the piles and foundations of the wind turbines, will be working in the area without interruption in 2022 and 2023. The wind farm will be delivered at the end of 2023.
Navigation in the work area is regulated by prefectural decrees to ensure the safety of sailors and users of the sea. Firstly, continuing from 2021, the works will be located in the north-western part of the park (https://www.premar-atlantique.gouv.fr/uploads/atlantique/ arretes/7153a83c41233fcd5cd8af5fbee167da.pdf)
Ailes Marines has provided information tools on the work, which can be consulted in the harbour master's offices of the Côtes-d'Armor and on the Ailes Marines website (www.ailes-marines.bzh).
Three phases of work between 2022 and the end of 2023
From March 2022 to 2023, Van Oord society will continue to install the anchor piles for the jackets (3 piles per foundation).
In 2022, Van Oord will also install the first foundations, the components of which are being produced by Navantia-Windar on the Brest polder. Twenty-four foundations are already assembled and stored at the company's site in Fene, Spain, and twenty-one foundations are currently being assembled. The first foundations will arrive in the park area at the beginning of the second half of 2022.
During the spring, Saipem will transport and install the electrical substation on site.
At the same time, Prysmian will begin the installation and burying of the 90 km of three-core submarine cables between the wind turbines.
All of these work phases will mobilise more than twenty vessels on site at peak activity.
Environmental control and monitoring measures
In 2022, during the offshore works phase, Ailes Marines will continue the environmental monitoring measures in accordance with the regulatory requirements, including monitoring of noise, turbidity, birds and marine mammals, bats, fisheries resources, water quality and sediments.
New monitoring will be carried out on the birds of the bay. Gannets and Alcids will be fitted with beacons to track their movements in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc. This monitoring, which has been carried out progressively over the last few years, is being carried out by independent scientific and environmental consultancies.
