Portraits of the actresses of the project:
Élodie Calmels, Communication Manager

Every year, March 8 celebrates International Women's Day.
Ailes Marines , in this context, wanted to highlight the women who work
every day to advance the project.
Focus on their journeys, their missions and their daily motivations.

What is your background ?

After graduating from ESJ Paris , I started my career in journalism .

Throughout my experiences, I strengthened my academic background by obtaining a master's degree in law specializing in public management and an MBA in marketing communication.

How long have you been working on the project?

I have been working on the Saint-Brieuc project since December 2018.

What is your part ?

My role within Ailes Marines and Iberdrola Renouvelables France consists of managing all communication activities around projects in France. More precisely, I am in charge of: communication , whether it concerns press relations, advertising, digital (social networks, the website as well as partnerships).

I manage a team of three people and three specialized agencies to support the service.

What do you like most about your mission?

To successfully implement the communication strategy put in place, I must work internally with the project teams.

Thus, I am in permanent contact with the engineers who work on the creation of the elements of the park. The discussions are extremely rich because we learn a lot from each other. pleasant and stimulating working environment .

I also have a real appetite for social networks . Being able to have direct contact as a company provides the opportunity to answer questions and explain how this new sector is taking shape in France. Because, beyond the project, it is a real energy ambition to which we are linked.

Within such a project, the missions have meaning and that is appreciable.

If you had to describe your mission in 3 words?

Generally speaking, the mission of communicator is extremely rich and varied.
It is even more so for the Saint-Brieuc project which requires constant action and support .

So, if 3 words are needed to define my job , I choose: multiple, complex, strategic .

Why did you enter the
Marine Renewable Energy sector?

In my past experiences, I had the opportunity to work in other sectors of activity.

When I sent my CV to Iberdrola Renouvelables France , I wanted to participate in the development of a unique and useful project for Brittany , but also for France.

It's an industry that is on the front lines of the fight against climate change while being at the heart of technological innovation and that's exciting ! Working in renewable energy is both a professional and personal commitment .

Women's rights: the fight against inequalities

A real social issue, the fight against inequalities continually continues its fight.

For more than 40 years, the United Nations has placed this cause at the heart of its sustainable development goals , stating that " Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, it is also a foundation necessary for the establishment of a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.

In order to become aware of the key figures revolving around this theme, an assessment is drawn up each year in order to monitor the progress linked to this fight, as well as the challenges that remain, on a global scale.

As a reminder

Among the notable advances of recent decades, we report:

  • More girls in school
  • Fewer girls forced into early marriage
  • More women in leadership positions or a place in parliament
  • Laws and reforms intended to advance gender equality

Despite this progress, many  challenges  still remain:

  • Persistent discriminatory laws and social norms
  • The underrepresentation of women at all levels of political power
  • The rate of women having suffered physical or sexual violence

Together, let's continue to fight against inequalities.
