Renewable marine energies
What are renewable energies?
Renewable energies (called renewable energy) operate thanks to the sun, the wind, the heat of the earth, waterfalls, tides, etc. They make it possible to produce electricity, heat, cold, gas, fuel, fuel. These energy sources are said to be inexhaustible, they create little or no waste and pollution. Conversely, fossil fuels are polluting and their stocks are decreasing. RE are therefore more resilient in the event of a crisis.

The energy of water is called hydraulic energy. It is produced by the movement of water in water mills, dams or tidal power plants. The water drives turbines, which rotate and thus create energy.
The water
When the wind blows, it turns the blades of wind turbines and produces electricity.
The wind
The sun's heat is captured using solar panels, they can heat buildings or produce electricity.
The heat of the sun
To produce energy, we can also use plant materials, such as wood or compost for example, this is what we call biomass. Often these materials are burned to be able to heat themselves.
The biomass
Geothermal power plants collect heat from deep beneath the earth, such as from rocks or water, to create energy.
The heat of the basement
Now let's talk about marine renewable energies
Marine renewable energies (called EmR) are the set of technologies which make it possible to produce electricity from the forces and resources of the sea, such as swell , currents, tides, warm sea waters. surface, cold deep waters etc…
They are said to be renewable since they are constantly replenished, so their stock is unlimited!
Do you know the different marine energies? Discover them below:
- Tidal energy
It is produced by the energy of the tides and their currents, which generally concentrates near the coasts. The energy produced will be greater if the current is strong.
- Tidal energy
It takes advantage of tidal flows to fill or empty a basin; these flows activate the dam's turbines and then generate electricity.
- Wave energy
It is produced by the movement of waves and swell. When the wind blows on the sea, waves form and the swell then moves over very long distances, which allows the collected energy to be brought to the coast.
- Thermal energy from the seas
It is especially suitable for the overseas departments, where the temperatures between the warm surface waters and the cold waters at depth are higher than in mainland France.

Fuel : Which has the property of burning.
Fossil energy : Fossil energy is that which is derived mainly from coal, oil and natural gas. They are called fossils because they come from the very slow decomposition of living elements (mainly plants) several million years ago.

EnR : Renewable energies.
Swell: Swell is an undulating movement located on the surface of the sea.
Overseas: Territory located beyond the seas in relation to France, such as Guyana, Guadeloupe, Martinique etc…
