An incident was reported this morning by the Captain of the AEOLUS ship to the CROSS Corsen (Regional Operational Surveillance and Rescue Center) and the maritime coordination of Ailes Ailes Marines (MCC).
During the series of drilling operations on position SB57, a technical incident was noted on one of the ship's three drilling rigs. Upon learning of the incident, the Van Oord company stopped all drilling activities in progress on the AEOLUS and decided to reassemble the drill rig concerned. When the tool was raised, a release of hydraulic fluid of the “PANOLIN HLP SYNTH 46” type was observed on the deck of the AEOLUS ship and in the marine environment.

Resumption of drilling work on the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm

Ailes Marines announces the return of the AEOLUS to the area from July 16, 2021, following the agreement of the maritime authorities. The Van Oord company's jack up vessel is responsible for drilling and installing the foundation piles for the offshore wind farm. After a complete review of the vessel's tools and equipment carried out by Van Oord in the Netherlands , all work control and monitoring protocols have been re-evaluated. Immobilization of the AEOLUS vessel for tool verification

The AEOLUS jack up vessel in charge of drilling and installing the foundation piles of the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm is currently immobilized in the area.
This decision was taken following a technical problem encountered during the second series of drillings carried out. This technical issue resulted in the leakage of Panolin HLP SYNTH hydraulic fluid used in drill guidance systems.
