Lézardrieux / Saint-Brieuc / Paris – August 13, 2021 – Ailes Marines announces the end of the pre-cutting campaign for inter-wind cable routes. The Aethra ship leaves the work area on August 14, almost 5 weeks ahead of schedule. Drilling work is still continuing in the northern area of the park.
August
The 2021 cable route pre-cutting campaign is completed
The 2021 pre-cutting campaign for inter-wind cable routes carried out by the Aethra vessel chartered by the Prysmian company ends 5 weeks ahead of the schedule initially announced.
The Aethra vessel successfully carried out all of the pre-slicing operations planned in the northern zone for the first phase of the 2021 works. The vessel was also able to carry out preparatory operations concerning the 2022 sequence of works, also located in the part north.
The Aethra leaves the bay of Saint-Brieuc today for its home port. It will return to the Saint-Brieuc park installation area in 2022 for the resumption of the second work campaign.
In order to allow fishing activities in the park, Ailes Marines has set itself an ambitious objective to bury up to 100% of the inter-wind turbine cables (90 km of cables) in the park, subject to numerous technical constraints. This objective follows numerous discussions with the CDPMEM22, the Maritime Prefecture and the Côtes-d'Armor Prefecture. The cabling plan was validated by the Côtes-d'Armor prefect and the maritime prefect on March 24, 2021 in order to guarantee maximum maritime safety for future sea users of the park.
Drilling work focused only on the northern area of the park in 2021
Ailes Marines once again reminds that drilling and pile installation operations are focused only on the northern area of the park , in order to allow fishing activities to continue in the southern part.
As discussed during the consultation meeting on August 3 with the CDPMEM22 and the Maritime Prefecture, Ailes Marines wished to continue its drilling in three new positions also located to the north of the electrical substation (which delimits the two northern installation zones and south of the park). This request was transcribed into the prefectural decree regulating uses in the area by the Maritime Prefecture. The Aeolus drillship has positioned itself on these new locations.
A project designed to allow the continuation of fishing activities
Ailes Marines once again points out that the project was designed to allow fishing and navigation activities to be maintained within the park (orientation of wind turbine lines, spacing between wind turbines, burying of cables, etc.). The offshore wind farm occupies an area limited to 6% of the Gisement du Large, or the equivalent of 1.5% of the scallop production of the entire Bay. The Prefecture of Côtes d'Armor has put in place clear governance through a management and monitoring committee chaired by the prefect of Côtes d'Armor to monitor the smooth running of the work and the monitoring measures undertaken.
