Immobilization of the AEOLUS vessel for tool verification
Lézardrieux / Saint-Brieuc / Paris – June 15, 2021 –
The AEOLUS jack up vessel in charge of drilling and installing the foundation piles of the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm is currently immobilized in the area.
This decision was taken following a technical problem encountered during the second series of drillings carried out. This technical issue resulted in the leakage of Panolin HLP SYNTH hydraulic fluid used in drill guidance systems.
This fluid, specially designed and developed for work at sea, is biodegradable according to the international criteria of OECD 301B. It is considered one of the most environmentally friendly in the industry. It is widely used for underwater applications, for work at sea, due to its low impact on the environment.
Ailes Marines takes all matters relating to the environment very seriously. In accordance with its procedures, the work was immediately stopped pending technical inspection of the drilling template by the authorities. Once this inspection is completed, the AEOLUS will return to its home port to carry out a complete technical check of the vessel and tools.
