Ailes Marines , a company 100% owned by the Iberdrola group, today announces the production of the first megawatt hours from the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm.
The Iberdrola group is launching production of its first French offshore wind farm and the 4th in Europe.
This commissioning confirms the group's leading status in this segment of activity. For the first time in Brittany, electricity is produced by an offshore wind farm. Since July 5, the electrons generated by the wind turbines have been injected into the national electricity network by RTE.
The production of the park will increase as the wind turbines come into service. Ultimately, the Côtes-d'Armor department will produce 9% of Brittany's total electricity consumption.
The installation of the first of the 62 wind turbines which will equip the Saint-Brieuc wind farm was carried out on May 9 byAiles Marines' contractor, the company Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. This operation was carried out from the jack-up vessel Brave Tern of the Norwegian company Fred Olsen windcarrier.
Ailes Marines announces today the resumption of drilling and installation work on the wind farm in the bay of Saint-Brieuc. These operations will mobilize up to thirty ships for several months. During this period, navigation and maritime safety rules are set by prefectural decrees.
PLos One and Limnology & Oceanography Methods, two international scientific publications, have validated the protocols for measuring the effects of noise on scallops. These measurements were carried out by independent scientists before and during the installation work on the constituent elements of the offshore wind farm in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc. The noise monitoring measurement campaign on scallops represents a world first for marine biology research.
The temporary technical base of the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm was inaugurated on Friday February 24, 2023 by Daniel Cueff, Vice-President of the Brittany Region and Stéphane Alain Riou, Director of Iberdrola France Offshore Wind at the port of Saint-Malo . Park maintenance operations will be carried out temporarily from this base with the EDDA Goëlo vessel.
Ailes Marines, a company 100% owned by the Iberdrola group, and the Northern Brittany Regional Shellfish Farming Committee (CRCBN) today signed an agreement to finance a feasibility study of a farm project in Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (AMTI).
