Iberdrola creates the first 1,100 jobs in France thanks to the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind project

Iberdrola confirms the launch of its 4 billion euro investment in France. The contract for the supply of the foundations, whose total amount amounts to 350 million euros, was signed this morning by the president of Iberdrola, Ignacio Galán. The foundation components will be assembled on the Brest port polder. The first 1,100 jobs are being realized in France with the signing of contracts linked to the Saint-Brieuc wind farm.

The installation at the port of Brest marks a decisive step in the establishment of a sector linked to marine energies in France and more particularly in Brittany. In this way, Iberdrola contributes to modernizing the shipbuilding industry across Europe, offering new skills and new business sectors to existing port facilities.
This new agreement brings together the experience and knowledge of professionals from across Europe and begins the path to green recovery and sustainable growth desired by the European Union and France.

Nearly twenty years after becoming a pioneer in the field of onshore wind energy, Iberdrola continues to be at the forefront of the development of offshore wind, a market with great potential.
The company plans to operate 2,000 MW of offshore wind power by the end of 2022 and 3,000 MW by 2024.
An acceleration of investments, which this year will reach the historic record of 10 billion euros, or 40% more than the average of the last five years.
The Saint-Brieuc Bay project reaffirms Iberdrola's commitment to the French market, in which it plans to invest up to 4 billion euros over the next four years. This will be Iberdrola's first offshore wind installation in France. With 496 MW, Saint-Brieuc will have sufficient capacity to provide clean energy to 835,000 people.
