Sustainable growth desired by Europe

The installation at the port of Brest marks a decisive step in the establishment of a sector linked to marine energies in France and more particularly in Brittany. In this way, Iberdrola contributes to modernizing the shipbuilding industry across Europe, offering new skills and new business sectors to existing port facilities.

This new agreement brings together the experience and knowledge of professionals from across Europe and begins the path to green recovery and sustainable growth desired by the European Union and France.

“With this contract, in addition to developing the clean energy of offshore wind, we are demonstrating that the green economy is a major vector of industrialization, sustainable and quality employment, at a time when economic recovery is more important than ever […]. I am very proud that this project is an opportunity to create a new line of activity in the port of Brest, as has happened in the past during other projects.”

Iberdrola, its firm commitment to wind energy

Nearly twenty years after becoming a pioneer in the field of onshore wind energy, Iberdrola continues to be at the forefront of the development of offshore wind, a market with great potential.

The company plans to operate 2,000 MW of offshore wind power by the end of 2022 and 3,000 MW by 2024.

An acceleration of investments, which this year will reach the historic record of 10 billion euros, or 40% more than the average of the last five years.

The Saint-Brieuc Bay project reaffirms Iberdrola's commitment to the French market, in which it plans to invest up to 4 billion euros over the next four years. This will be Iberdrola's first offshore wind installation in France. With 496 MW, Saint-Brieuc will have sufficient capacity to provide clean energy to 835,000 people.
