Press release
Start of construction of the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm
Lézardrieux / Saint-Brieuc / Paris – April 21, 2021 –
Following the announcement made on April 16 by Mrs. Barbara Pompili and Annick Girardin, respectively Minister of Ecological Transition and Minister of the Sea, Ailes Marines confirms the start on May 3 of the construction of the offshore wind farm in the bay of Saint-Brieuc. The work will be spread over 3 years. In 2021, construction operations are planned to take place from May to October, in five areas located only in the northern part of the park.
April
An organization of work discussed with sea users
The organization and sequencing of the park's work were the subject of discussions between sea users, maritime authorities and Ailes Marines . They were then presented to the local nautical commission on March 19.
Starting work on May 3 ensures that it does not interfere with the 2020-2021 scallop fishing campaign, which ends at the end of April.
Navigation and maritime safety rules will be set by prefectural decrees.
Work concentrated in the north of the park in 2021
Following discussions at the local nautical commission, Ailes Marines agreed to concentrate the first phase of work in 2021 only on the northern area of the park, in order to allow fishing activities to continue in the southern part. The work will take place gradually, in 5 specific areas.
Sequencing of construction work
From May to October, the work concerns the installation of anchor piles for the jacket foundations (3 piles per foundation).
At the same time, pre-cutting operations for inter-wind cable routes are planned for the period from June to September. For the record, in order to allow fishing activities to continue, Ailes Marines is committed to burying all of the inter-wind turbine cables (90 km of cables) in the park.
Drilling and pre-trenching operations take place gradually in each zone, ultimately being concurrent throughout the entire north of the field.
For this first phase, 8 ships are mobilized.
The drilling technique, a solution with less impact
To reduce the environmental impact, Ailes Marines used the drilling technique to install the piles of the 62 wind turbine foundations and that of the electrical substation. In fact, this technique is much less noisy than that of beating.
The drilling work for the foundation anchor piles is carried out by the Van Oord company. For this operation, Van Oord mobilizes the ship AEOLUS.
Kerantour logistics base
Work on the park is coordinated from the Kerantour construction base in Pleudaniel, as well as the port of Lézardrieux (22). Several missions are carried out from this base, including maritime coordination and transport of personnel on site.
Information on works for sea users
In order to inform residents and in particular users of the sea, Ailes Marines will soon open an online information space dedicated to maritime work. It will present the nature and organization of the work, as well as information concerning navigation, in addition to the orders of the Maritime Prefecture.
Compensation measures for professional fishermen
The new online information space set up by Ailes Marines will offer a tab dedicated exclusively to professional fishermen.
On this site, professional fishermen whose activity could be impacted during the park construction work phase (2021-2023) will have the opportunity to reference themselves and thus benefit from precise information on the amount of compensation they will receive. will be able to benefit.
