From design to installation
This contract also reinforces the long and fruitful collaboration between the Prysmian Group and Iberdrola Renovables, sole shareholder of the project company Ailes Marines. Iberdrola Renovables has already entrusted Prysmian with several projects in recent years, such as the Wikinger offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea and the Vineyard offshore wind farm in the state of Massachusetts, USA.
A partnership based on trust
Prysmian will provide a complete turnkey package including the design, supply, installation and all testing for the commissioning of the 90 km of 66 kV three-core subsea High Voltage AC (HVAC) high voltage three-core cable with XLPE insulation. The phases of the cables (cores and insulation) will be manufactured in the Prysmian Group's plants located in Montereau-Fault-Yonne and Gron (France), and the final assembly of the three-core cables will be carried out in Nordenham (Germany). Delivery and commissioning are scheduled for the end of 2022.
Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm
The Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm will be located in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc in Brittany, 16.3 kilometres off the French coast. When completed, the wind farm, with a total capacity of 496 MW, will produce 1,820 GWh per year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 835,000 inhabitants. Installation work will take several months and will continue until 2022. The wind farm will be fully operational in 2023.
"This contract once again confirms our technological lead, which we are putting at the service of the energy transition in France, as well as our ability to provide our customers with high-performance, locally manufactured solutions. »
"This contract marks a major milestone for Prysmian, it proves that our ambition to become a supplier of a turnkey solution, covering the entire supply chain, is credible and sustainable in the long term. Our 66 kV inter-wind turbine cable system can carry twice as much power as 33 kV cables. »
"The contract with Prysmian for the inter-wind turbine cables for the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm is another important milestone that proves once again that Ailes Marines is determined to invest in the "green" revival of the French economy and industry while contributing to the objective of achieving zero net emissions thanks to renewable energies. »
